It was Easter Sunday and the weather was your typical British bank holiday weather – miserable and wet. Not what was wanted for the Easter parade in Whittingham . The local children from Whittingham’s junior school had all made Easter bonnets to wear in the parade and they all looked fantastic. There was also the darts team from the local pub in fancy dress that related to spring. Easter bunnies and chicks seemed to be the favourite costumes. A brass band led the parade with dance troops from nearby towns also joining in. The parade set off through the high street and along the main road where locals lined the pavements and cheered everyone on.
The parade was to end at the high school and as the weather wasn’t good the rest of the day was to be held inside the school. The dance troops entertained everybody and the brass band provided the music. There were tombola stalls with great prizes varying from Easter eggs to things like bubble bath. Hog Roast Whittingham was asked to provide food for the day. With it being spring, lamb was chosen. Mint sauce was to accompany the lamb, which was carved to put in either sandwiches or wraps. Beef burgers and minty lamb burgers in buns were chosen for the younger ones and crispy salad for everyone to help themselves to.
Hog Roast Whittingham are used to catering for all different events so are able to adapt our menu to the event if needed. The aromas from the meat were amazing, drawing people over and tempting their taste buds. People were coming thick and fast for a sandwich or a wrap and were making suggestions to others waiting as what to have. The burgers also went down well with young children and teenagers. Onions and burger relish accompanied the burgers and a lovely minty style mayonnaise was made specially for the event by our chef to go alongside the minty burgers that sat on a bed of lettuce. The food was available all day for people who wanted it and was enjoyed by all.
