Often you can be hoping and praying for good weather on the day of your event. Last week we attended an event in Lea where the host Jane was extremely worried about the weather ruining her outdoor party, so when booking her Hog Roast in Lea we put her in touch with a marque company. At all hog roast events we provide our own gazebo to cook and serve underneath so the food is protected but it’s not quite enough to shelter all of your guests from the typical unpredictable British weather!
On the day Jane was very happy she made the choice to hire a marque, decorated with fairy lights inside it looked fantastic and definitely kept all the guests dry and out of the gusty winds. Jane was holding her event in one of her fields on her farm (guests came prepared with appropriate footwear and so did we!) It was quite an informal gathering with a casual dress code. With many of the local farmers gathered at the event it was a scene of tweeds and flat caps all around, straight away we knew our hog roast would go down a treat with the guests!
Jane had prepared a selection of salads herself using her own home grown products from the farm and she had booked our services to provide the ‘hog rolls’ as she referred to them. With many of the locals from Lea attending we had a wide selection of bread rolls and wraps, including gluten-free options for the guests to choose from with a pig that would feed 150 guests we had plenty enough for everyone! With the weather and location of the event we had already prepared to add a little extra cooking time than normal onto the pig. The aroma of the hog roast was filling the marque beautifully with the light winds taking it to each and every guest, and by 6.30pm we were ready to serve exactly on time. As soon as I lifted the pig up into serving position the guests were already heading over to have a look, the crackling looked fantastic and Jane was very happy.
Impressing such a large group of the farming community with a Hog Roast in Lea was a fantastic experience and they knew straight away by look and by taste the quality and freshness of our meat and bread rolls. Many wanted to know our secrets and we love giving our customers a few insights into our trade but not everything….. we do have a few secrets that definitely stay secrets of how we get such fantastic flavours!
