At this chilly time of year, what could be more warming than a hot, fresh hog roast that’s been cooking away, sizzling in its own juices, for hours and hours? A Hog Roast Longridge hog roast will warm you up from the inside out, and that’s even if you’re enjoying it in the great British outdoors! Many of our customers do just that in the winter months as well as other times of the year, just like Andy and Elly, who we catered for over the weekend.
When Elly called us several weeks ago to book our catering services for her engagement party, she knew she wanted a traditional hog roast made into pigs in buns to wow her guests but she also needed a vegetarian option providing. We have plenty of options for guests on special diets, including vegetarian dishes such as homemade quiche, stuffed mushrooms and peppers and our highly popular veggie skewers, and the latter is what Elly chose for her two vegetarian guests. To make the kebabs, we skewer chunky pieces of halloumi cheese together with mushrooms, tomatoes, mixed peppers, courgette, and red onion, grill to perfection and then serve with pitta bread and a Tzatziki dip. Vegetarians and carnivores alike can’t get enough of them and we often make them vegan too by leaving out the cheese.
On the day of Andy and Elly’s engagement party, our Hog Roast Longridge team arrived at their home venue and set up in the back garden a few hours before serving time. The garden was being decorated while we set up our equipment and as we prepared the pig to be roasted, and before long it was cooking slowly at a low temperature while we watched over it.
Nearer to the time of food service, we grilled the fresh veggie skewers, sliced the floury bread rolls, dished up our own apple sauce and sage and onion stuffing and arranged the condiments on our serving tables, and then it was finally 4pm and time to serve the happy couple and their hungry guests a truly scrumptious Hog Roast Longridge feast.
