Happy half-term, folks! With schools across England closing their doors for a well-deserved break, things have been buzzing here at Hog Roast Moor Nook. Our team has had a surge of bookings lately, and we kicked off the holiday in style with a special event, organised by Sophie.
Sophie had been searching for a way to reward her kids for their stellar school performance, and she figured there was no better way than by treating the family to a hearty, mouth-watering feast. But, let’s be honest, cooking for 15 people isn’t exactly an easy feat! Not wanting to spend all evening in the kitchen and miss out on the fun, Sophie wisely decided to call in the experts at Hog Roast Moor Nook, and she couldn’t have been happier with her choice!
For this intimate family gathering, we decided to roast a beautiful suckling pig. Now, if you’ve never had the pleasure of tasting a suckling pig, you’re definitely missing out. This tender delicacy is a true treat! The meat is noticeably more delicate and juicy than that of an adult pig, thanks to the high collagen content in their young muscle fibres. The result? A melt-in-your-mouth experience that’s both succulent and satisfying. The skin? Perfectly crisped to golden perfection. And the flavour? Subtly sweet and mild – the kind of taste that lingers and leaves you wanting more.
Sophie and her family were absolutely blown away by the flavours, and honestly, we couldn’t blame them! To complement the rich and tender pig, Hog Roast Moor Nook served up vibrant garden-fresh salads, creamy gourmet coleslaw, and herby new potatoes. Each dish added a touch of colour and freshness, tying the whole meal together beautifully.
But the hog roast wasn’t the end of this feast – Sophie wanted to finish the celebration on a high note, so we treated her guests to dessert. We whipped up a decadent chocolate torte, alongside a zesty tarte au citron that was as light as it was refreshing. Paired with fresh cream and berries, it was the perfect sweet ending to a perfect day.
