It was that time of year where all over the country the race for life was taking place. People from all different walks of life were taking part for very personal reasons and every year more and more seemed to take part. There were young and old taking part. There were the very fit and the unfit, but it didn’t matter because it wasn’t a proper race. It was a great event for raising money for charity and a great success every year. You could walk, run or jog it didn’t matter. All that mattered was the taking part and everyone that did and finished successfully was given a medal to prove it.

What an amazing turn out there seemed to be hundreds of people. Some did the 5k and others did the 10k it all deepened on the level of fitness. The race was coming to an end and some who had taken part had made plans to have a small party after the race to celebrate life. It was to take place in the park to make it special and to make it feel part of the day. We at Hog Roast Whitechapel were the chosen caterers and because of this some of the catering staff decided to take part in the race as well. A spit roast chicken was chosen as most of the party goers were on a health kick and they thought this would be the better option. Fresh green side salads and a colourful tomato salad were made alongside a low fat coleslaw. We were asked if we could make this specially and said it wasn’t a problem. A large plate of watermelon was served for a refreshing starter. With pimms and lemonade as the chosen tipple it didn’t take long for things to get going. Adrenaline was still high from the race so everyone was in good form and the health kick started to go out of the window.

We had made a fresh fruit salad for dessert and also taken a large chocolate gateau with fresh cream which went down very well. We at Hog Roast Whitechapel like to see that everyone is having a good time and enjoying the food. No matter what type of occasion we cater for we always cater as though it’s for a member of our family. At the end of any event we very discreetly remove any waste and rubbish and dispose of it correctly. Hog Roast Whitechapel are happy to cater for any occasion and will always go that extra mile.
