The Hog Roast Catforth team were cooking for a good cause last weekend when we were asked to provide a delicious buffet for a fundraising event for a local animal charity. The organisation work tirelessly to care for neglected, abused and abandoned animals of all shapes and sizes, from collies to cobras and everything in between. With money very tight, they rely heavily on volunteers and were in desperate need of some extra funds to buy new equipment and improve their facilities, to ensure every animal in need could receive the care they needed.
The charity co-ordinators decided to organise an event to promote the important work they do, with all the proceeds from the ticket sales going towards the much-needed improvements at the centre. They needed caterers who could give their paying guests high quality food and service worthy of the ticket price, whilst at the same time being superb value for money to cut down on costs. With menus to suit all occasions and budgets, Hog Roast Catforth were the only catering company in the area who fitted the bill!
They opted for one of our elegant, yet economical corporate menus of slow roasted pork severed in freshly baked bread buns (including a gluten free alternative), accompanied by a fresh Mediterranean salad, creamy coleslaw and warm buttery new potatoes. The guests were certainly in for a treat and we were sure the animals would be too after all the donations had come flooding in! Whilst the animal loving guests were given the opportunity to meet some of the residents their donations were helping, we made sure no detail was overlooked on the food-front and put the finishing touches to the stylish spread as Billy, an owl rescued from a barbed wire fence and nursed back to health by the devoted team, was doing his bit to schmooze the visitors! He looked as if he would have been happy to pose for photos all night, but he reluctantly allowed his handler to take him back to his cage so we could serve the food!
Billy the owl and all of the other animals the public were given rare access to had made their point though and everyone realised how crucial their donations were to keeping the local animal population safe and well. It was quite an emotional event all in all, but it served its worthy purpose and the fundraisers couldn’t thank the Hog Roast Catforth team enough for providing such a classy, yet budget-friendly buffet to help them achieve their goal!
